But many Ohioans who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) either aren’t aware of it, or don’t know how to access it. The Ohio Treasury can help.

This refundable federal income tax credit is generally available for low to moderate income working men and women and their families. Originally approved by Congress in 1975, it was created to offset the burden of social security and provide an incentive for consistent employment.
By sharing information about this program and connecting Ohioans to tax preparers who can help (links to info about VITA and Ohio EITC coalitions), the Treasury is working to ensure that every Ohioan who qualifies for the EITC receives it.
If all Ohioans who qualify for the EITC receive it, we’ll see thousands more dollars pumped back into Ohio families’ bank accounts—to be used for paying bills and mortgage payments, sending Ohio kids to college, and meeting other critical financial obligations.
