Treasurer Mandel Holds Military Smart Money Choices Workshop at Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station

VIENNA – Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s office held a Military Smart Money Choices financial literacy workshop on Saturday at the Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station in Vienna as part of its continuing statewide initiative to provide financial resources to Ohio’s military members and their families.  This free financial literacy workshop was offered in partnership with the Airman & Family Readiness Center and Chief Master Sergeant David Kane of the Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station and welcomed Airman Reservists in attendance.

“As an Iraq War veteran, I know that we need to do all we can to ensure a smooth transition into civilian life for our servicemen and women,” said Treasurer Mandel. “Having the right financial tools to make smart money choices is an integral part of that equation.  I am proud to be able to make these resources and programs available to our service members to help empower them to continue to serve their country and communities across Ohio.”

The Military Smart Money Choices Workshop is a free financial planning seminar for all Ohio service members and their families.  Key topics in the series include local benefits and financial assistance, budgeting, credit and debt management, investments, and identity theft and fraud prevention.  Additional topics covered include homeownership, retirement, estate planning and Social Security.

Workshops such as these are part of Treasurer Mandel’s effort to help improve awareness of financial education programs and resources available to service members and their families.
