Treasurer Josh Mandel Hosts CPIM Conference in Akron

Press Release - Ohio Treasurer's Office

AKRON – Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s office hosted a Center for Public Investment Management (CPIM) conference on Thursday for Ohio public funds managers at the University of Akron.  CPIM provides comprehensive financial training in the areas of finance, investments, cash management and ethics, and allows Ohio local government investment officers at all levels of experience to receive continuing education training as they work to safeguard taxpayer dollars.

Public funds officials in Ohio are required by law to receive continuing education credits in the areas of investment and management of public finances.  In order to obtain these credits, public funds managers can attend CPIM conferences, CPIM accredited courses sponsored by a professional association, or CPIM online courses.

The Ohio Treasurer’s office offers CPIM Conferences throughout the year and is proud to have expanded its total online course offerings to six, allowing Ohio’s finance officers the opportunity to receive training at their convenience as they work to increase their knowledge and effectively manage Ohio’s tax dollars.

“I am proud to assist Ohio’s public funds managers in receiving continuing education training,” said Treasurer Mandel.  “CPIM conferences provide local government finance officers a valuable resource as they work to manage Ohio’s tax dollars.”

In addition to today’s conference, the Treasurer’s office presented an interactive demonstration of OhioCheckbook.com to CPIM attendees and provided updates from the Treasurer’s office and the most recent initiative of the Treasurer’s Transparency Project.
