Mr. Nicholson graduated from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) with Bachelor degrees in Finance and Accountancy, and received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton. Jamie currently serves as the Director of Finance for the City of Pataskala, Ohio and has more than 20 years’ experience in governmental accounting and finance. Prior to entering public service, he was employed in the banking sector in a variety of financial and project management positions. Mr. Nicholson served on the National GFOA’s 18-member Executive Board, and was an ex officio member of the GFOA’s Budgeting & Fiscal Policy Committee. He previously served on the GFOA’s Treasury & Investment Management Committee for 6 years, and has been a CAFR reviewer on the GFOA’s Special Review Committee. Jamie is a regular presenter at national and Ohio GFOA conferences, webinars and training classes. He is a Past-President of the Ohio GFOA, and has been active member of the Ohio GFOA’s Education Committee for nearly 20 years.

Bethany Staats, CPA is currently the Finance Director for the City of New Albany. Prior to her current role, she served as the Assistant Finance Director, and previously the Finance Manager, for the City of Upper Arlington where she has served from 2013-2017. Previously, she spent eight years with Julian & Grube, Inc., an Independent Public Accounting Firm specializing in government. The last two years there were spent as an Audit Manager. Bethany’s responsibilities include overseeing the finance function of the City. Bethany currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio GFOA, serves as a member of the Ohio GFOA Education Committee, and has served as the social chair on the Central Ohio AGA Executive Committee in previous years.
