Until 2010 when she retired, Virginia S. Brizendine was the CFO for the School Employees Retirement System of Ohio. Prior to that position, she was the CFO for the Public School Retirement System in Missouri. Virginia is a Certified Government Financial Manager and a Certified Public Accountant(retired). She holds a master's degree in accountancy from the University of Missouri - Columbia.
She served as the national president of the Association of Government Accountants in 1996 and served for 13 years on the professional certification board. She has received awards from AGA for distinguished services to the Association and for service to the government financial management profession.
She is a past president and founding member of the Public Pension Financial Forum, an organization that addresses issues and provides networking to finance people in public retirement systems.
Virginia also served as a chair of the Committee on Benefit and Retirement Administration of the Government Finance Officers Association and has served on the board of directors and as a Central Chapter President for the Missouri Society of CPA's.
