This course will cover an overview of new lease accounting guidance contained in recently issued GASB Statement No. 87 including examples and practical implementation tips. This course will educate participants on the new lease accounting standards on the horizon and provide awareness as to required steps to be taken to properly prepare for implementation.
Understanding the new lease accounting standard is very important for every school business official to comply with financial reporting requirements.
As a Partner with Kennedy Cottrell Richards, Jared has responsibility for the management of a variety of services provided to the firm’s clients including financial statement and single audits, financial statement compilations, and various agreed-upon procedures engagements. Before joining Kennedy Cottrell Richards, Jared was an Auditor-in-Charge for the State Government Region of the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office, where he gained extensive experience with state-level government auditing.
In addition to providing the services just mentioned, Jared has instructed governmental accounting and auditing courses for several government associations in Ohio as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Jared recently completed two three-terms on the Ohio GFOA Board of Trustees and currently serves as Treasurer. In addition, Jared has served as both Treasurer and President for the Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants (COAGA).
Jared earned his BSBA degree in Accounting from the University of Toledo. He is licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Ohio.

Topics covered will include economic/market environment, portfolio strategy, service providers, and compliance issues. The topics will all be discussed with an end goal of informing participants on coordinating various aspects to better evaluate and manage a proper investment program.
