This course will provide an overview of various investment vehicles available to public school districts. This will give school business officials the information they need to help make informed decisions with how to invest funds.
The session will also cover the latest updates from banking institutions including a discussion on earnings credit rates, state collateral changed and miscellaneous public fund banking topics.
This course will provide attendees with an overview of a variety of methods for investing excess funds. There are specific investments permitted by Ohio law allowed for public school districts. Understanding the various investment types available to school districts is critical for school treasurers.
Ryan is a Managing Principal and Portfolio Manager at RedTree Investment Group. He has over 20 years of investment experience in the fixed income markets. Specifically, over the past 13 years, Ryan has been assisting public entities and other agencies with their fixed income investment needs. At RedTree, he is responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment process along with communication of the unique investment strategies for the firm’s clients.
Ryan obtained his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and his MBA in Finance from Xavier University. He has received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a current member of the CFA Institute. Ryan served as the Past President and Trustee for the CFA Society of Cincinnati. He is a current Board Member for Junior Achievement of Greater Cincinnati.
Tony Okray currently serves as Senior Vice President Government Banking Relationship Manger for Huntington Bank in the Summit, Stark, Portage and Medina County Ohio markets. He provides day-to-day direct support for government clients within his assigned areas. Previously he had worked for FirstMerit bank as Vice President -Team Leader in the Treasury Management Department. Tony joined FirstMerit in 1999 after a combined seven years in retail and commercial banking with Star, FirstStar, and US Bank.
Tony is also very active in volunteer activities, including Jr. Achievement, local clubs and boards and has dedicated numerous hours to youth coaching in Baseball, Basketball, Softball and Soccer.
Tony currently lives in North Canton Ohio with his wife and three children.
