This course covers common tax incentives such as tax incentive financing and enterprise zone and community reinvestment abatements. It will provide Treasurers with an overview of the law that governs these incentives as well as an explanation as to how the incentives practically work. The course will also cover the circumstances when school district approval for tax incentives is necessary as well as tips for negotiating and maximizing compensation in exchange for school district approval of tax incentives.
The course content falls under the categories of both Public Finance and Auditing & Accounting. Public Finance includes Tax Increment Financing and Auditing & Accounting includes accounting and financial reporting which encompasses GASB.
