This course will enhance the audience’s working knowledge as applicable to investing Ohio public funds. This session will provide the audience with real life examples of how investments have benefited other schools throughout the state, as well as provide the audience with an option to improve their district’s investment strategies.

2Statement of Accreditation Rationale: Because school business officials are required to be good stewards with school district finances thus they must stay up to date on current market changes and the economic landscape of investing. Also, school districts are limited to the number and type of investments that are allowed to be used thus they must continue to be updated on those requirements and the investment vehicles that are available to ensure that they are performing their required duties in fiscally responsible and lawful manner.
Mike A. Savage, Director, Vice President, Fifth Third Securities, Inc, is an Institutional Investments Representative in Columbus, Ohio. Mike joined Fifth Third Securities in July 2006. Mike specializes in fixed income securities. His customer base spans public funds, banks, corporations, insurance companies, and money managers. Mike has been with Fifth Third for nine years, and has been employed with the firm since his graduation from the Ohio State University in 2006 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He also completed his MBA in Business Administration with a focus in Entrepreneurship at Capital University in Columbus, OH. Mike, lifetime Ohio resident and Columbus native holds his Series 7, Series 63 and Series 66 NASD licenses.
