In January 2023, GAO issued an exposure draft of Government Auditing Standards, better known as the Yellow Book, to propose a revision to the quality control portion of Chapter 5, “Quality Control and Peer Review.” The proposed standards are intended to address concerns about audit quality that have been identified by peer reviewers and studies by various professional regulators. This session will feature significant changes in the proposed standards, explain the transition from a system of quality control to a system of quality management, and highlight opportunities for the Yellow Book community to provide feedback on the Exposure Draft.
