2024 Introduction to the Finance Office and Governmental Accounting Seminar

This day-and-a-half seminar is as an introduction to the public finance office. It incorporates a high-level look at the various issues potentially encountered in the finance office, including, but not limited to, Ethics, Public Records, Human Resources, Accounting Principles, Revenues, Expenditures, Budgets, Banking & Investments, Purchasing, Debt Issuance, Internal Control, and Audits. This seminar is designed for newly elected and appointed officials and employees of the public finance office and would be a great way for any public official to understand the complexities involved in the public finance office.

This presentation will examine the multiple types of scams being used on Ohioan’s today, the challenges we face from globalized crime syndicates, and the implications for an uneducated general public. Real world examples will be used to highlight potential identification of attempts or to assist in recognition of unreported crime. The presentation will also provide strategies to protect yourself, family, friends, coworkers, and teams against these attacks.

SSA Fields has been employed by the United States Secret Service for 22 years.  Currently, SSA Fields is assigned to the Columbus Resident Office, manages the USSS Columbus Cyber Fraud Task Force, and responsible for investigating multiple types of financial crimes cases including BEC, Pig Butchering, Crypto-Currency, counterfeit, and fraud.

2024 Intermediate Governmental Accounting Seminar

A two-day program highlighting intermediate level governmental accounting and financial reporting concepts. The objective of this course is to assist attendees to better understand and prepare GAAP basis financial statements and related issues using the GASB 34 Model. To help better understand how areas can impact you and to assist with questions, bring a copy of your own Gov’t F/S, or a sample set. 
This course is designed for state and local government fiscal officers and staff, government auditors and independent public accountants with some experience and/or training related to preparing, using and auditing financial statements prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
